Hello everyone,

This first week at the MTC has been a great experience for me. I have learned so much from teachers and other missionaries. My two teachers for our district are Brother Rasmussen and Brother LeFevre. These two people are so fun to be around and have a lot of good experience teaching others. My missionary companion is Elder Turner. We get along well and he has a lot of amazing insights that help me become a better missionary. There are also four Sisters and two other Elders in my district. I've already gotten to know them a little bit, but I can't wait to talk to them some more. We all virtually attend two three-hour classes together, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We also attended three one-hour workshops this week as an entire MTC.

I have learned two main ideas from this week I would like to share. During the workshops, we were focused on our purpose as missionaries. This purpose is to teach and help people have faith in Jesus Christ. One of the scriptures I enjoyed studying this week was John 3:16-17.

16 ¶ For aGod so bloved the cworld, that he dgave his eonly begotten fSon, that whosoever gbelieveth in him should not perish, but have heverlasting ilife.

17 For God asent not his Son into the world to bcondemn the world; but that the world through him might be csaved.

In my classes, we were focusing on teaching to match the needs of people we teach. We are taught to focus on the individual we are teaching instead of reciting lessons. I hope to keep this focus in mind as I teach others in the future.

Note from Mom:
Bailey was set apart as a missionary by President Scott Stewart on December 15th. Current world conditions have changed so many things, but we are grateful Bailey can still go out and serve a mission. Our home is now the MTC. When Bailey was little, we lived in the Fair Oaks area. I remember very well one fast and testimony meeting when our friend, Gail Sprague, shared some thoughts. One comment that stuck out to me then was when she talked about how our homes should be an MTC for our children, a Missionary Training Center even before they go out. Fast forward to 2020 and this is something that has become an actual reality. Ben does the morning exercise shift (because there is no way I could keep up!). I go on midday walks with Elder Oram and our sidekick, Koda. I told Bailey that I hope his companion in the field is preparing now...The kid's walk is like my jog. The purpose of this blog is to have it printed for Bailey once he returns home. I won't be interfering in it most of the time, but wanted to share a little of our experience hosting him as a missionary. We have enjoyed watching him this last week in action and look forward to his chance to share the message of Christ's love in Tennessee.
